i just obtained a ts clearance and was wondering if that usually results in an increase in salary. i know that many people jump ship once they get one to get higher pay. so does that mean there is a chance they will up my salary to keep me with them?

Jump ship? Why? Why would you 'jump ship' if you get promoted?

Where I work, getting your clearance means that you get to keep the job for which you were tentatively hired and nothing more.

it isn't a promotion. i am just given a top secret clearance so that i can work on unclassified projects. i was hired to develop for unclassified programs but my clearance process had already been started by my previous employer and was picked up by my current company. i just wanted to know because christmas is going to put a hurting on my wallet so i wanted to know if there was a chance of a salary increase.

Raise the issue during your review. I wouldn't push it. You can always update your resume on Monster and hotjobs. Just put put active TS clearance on it and you'll have a hard time dodging the calls. Look on your companies internal website for other positions. Check the positions of the big contractors. Lockheed, Northrup, Raytheon, BAE, ect..

So what unclassified stuff do you work on?

I wouldn't make a very good secret agent.

I have no idea about this stuff but why would you need Top Secret clearance to work on UNclassified stuff?
