So I was trying to do a ghetto rattlecan job on my bumper.

I used white rustoleum high performance enamel for the basecoat, and it looked pretty decent. A bit of orange peel, but at least it was glossy and the color was right.

I sprayed on duplicolor acrylic enamel clear coat that said automotive formula 40 mins after the basecoat, and now it looks like it's coated with a layer of piss.

WHY?! I didn't have much expectations for how this came out, but god forbid, I was hoping it'd at least be somewhat white. Does the two brands not mix well? Or is there a special clear coat for white paint?

you should've used the same brand of base/clear.

it would appear you painted over regular enamel with acrylic and they reacted with each other unfavorably.

can't mix paint types like brblx said. you need to stick to the same brand to get good results. I like duplicolor better than the rustolium stuff.

my main interest would be finding the best nozzle. you can buy decent factory colored paint in spray cans online, but having it match doesn't mean shit if it doesn't spray well.

there's a reason decent paint guns cost a little scratch. uniform results are hard to get with a can. white is probably the best color to try this with though, as a little blotchiness won't show nearly as badly as on a dark car.
