Cleaning your balls poll

There are still some ball mice where I work. God awful things.

Haven't used one at home in 12 years.

Whenever I come across them here they go straight into the garbage. Mouse with a vital easily removable part plus middle/high schoolers = disaster.

I actually remember it being kind of refreshing to scrape the ring of dirt off of the contact wheels, and have the ring come off in one big flake.

I used to steal the balls from school. Eventually I ended up with a box full of balls and the school had no balls... :|

Laser mice are the new replacement for mouse balls. One single cat hair in the beam fucks them up, and you have to turn them over and try to find it. My G9 is the last laser mouse I'll own. Plain old optical ftw.

Plain old optical ftw.

Laser doesn't offer enough of a benefit over optical imo. And if necessary get a decent mousepad for a reflective desk.

IMO, a decent mousepad makes using a mouse better overall over just a desk surface.
