My backpack is gross since it hasn't been washed/cleaned in 2+ years. It still works so I want to keep it around. Anyone have any easy way of washing it? Like maybe in washing machine?

Soak it in weak soapy water, then rinse off thoroughly with a hose and air dry. If there is no internal frame you would probably be OK putting it in the washing machine on a gentle cycle too.

Take it into the shower with you.

I've got an Old Navy backpack my g/f bought for me 5-6 years ago and it went through the washer just fine. I let it air dry outside for a few hours.

I'm a washing machine noob so I put a whole cap of liquid detergent in even though I was just washing the backpack by itself. When I went to take it out there were suds everywhere.......sorta reminded me of an "I love Lucy" episode. So yeah, if you decide to wash it alone, just use a little laundry detergent.

Warm water, dish soap or detergent, and a brush (think big brush not toothbrush). Then let it hang dry.
