Cleaning thermal goo

Do i just pour some into the CPU and wipe away? or is there some better way i should do it?

I wouldn't "pour" alcohol all over your CPU. Take a Q-tip, dip it into the alcohol, and carefully wipe on the top of the CPU. I would avoid too much alcohol running all over your CPU. Make sure you dry it well too.

Use a lint-free cloth to clear away any goop (lint may otherwise get in the microscopic imperfections, hindering heat transfer - not much, but why let any get there?), and put some alcohol on the cloth, then wipe away on the top of the CPU.
This is what I did at least.

As for "drying", the alcohol will probably evaporate pretty quickly, so it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Theres the remains of a thermal pad which is pink. wth do i do to get this off? rub lots? or i could scrape it off, any ideas?

aha alls fine, i re-read the instructions on the arctic silver site and i scraped it off with a "plastic tool" . Plugged the cpu back in and alls fine :D yay. Comp still crashes while it shuts down occasionally but it did that before and it is windows me so alls fine :) Thanks all.
