Cleaning the pads on the bottom of a Intellimouse Explorer

OK, what do i have to do to get these suckers really clean. i tried scrubbing em with alcohol and such and it just doesnt work i have a very nice mouse pad fuNc 1030 and these lil pads are causing alot of friction i dont want. any suggestions?
