Cleaning the engine bay?

I have lots of spare time these days so I decided I could give my engine bay a nice shine and clean.

Any articles/guides on this? If so, could you please link me?

Any basic methods I should use or products you reccomend? I"ve NEVER cleaned an engine bay, but I do know mine looks horrible

Cliff's Notes - Simple Green and water. Do not hose your engine bay unless you like shorted plugs.

I've hosed my engine bay before with no lasting effects. The engine sputtered for a little while, but that was it.

My dad tried it once and got some electronics wet, had to get them replaced

There are sensors that react very badly to getting wet. You do not want to just hose off your engine. TPS sensors expecialy do not like water.
