Cleaning TFT screen

I have done a search but could not find anything with regard to this [surprisingly]. How do people clean the screen of a notebook. I have some stuff made in Germany [EMTEC] which has sets of wet and dry wipes but instructions are in THAI!!
Any idea if this product is good? is it possible to easily damage a screen? What other solutions are there?

It's actually fairly difficult to damage notebook screens IME. I've seen ThinkPads have their screens cleaned with Windex and that scratchy brown paper towel, and they look no worse off for it.

Now of course, you shouldn't be doing that. Personally, I use some Kensington Screen Cleaner and a lint-free cloth. The Screen Cleaner is actually just alcohol, water, and blue coloring, but it comes in a handy spray so I still buy it.

You can pretty much use any combination of isopropyl alcohol. water, and a soft cloth and rest assured that your screen will be safe.

I thought that alcohol based solutions were NOT to be used on screens?

I don't see what the big deal about cleaning LCD's is. They are suprisingly durable and I think people coddle them too much. I generally just use tissues dabbed with a bit of tap water and I've never had a problem with my last 4 laptops.

I would agree for the most part. I have found that some of the newer ones with the glossy coating on them are prone to the coating wearing off. I see this coating mainly on the high resolution LCD (SXGA+ & UXGA). However, those LCD seem to be brighter than other LCD's too. Anyway for those, I just use a soft lint free cloth and keep lightly rubbing the LCD until the smudges are gone. Also, most LCD's just get dusty. Just use a soft bristled brush to remove the dust plus it is good for helping to remove all the "cookie crumbs" that users seems to get under their keys.

i use a soft cloth i got from a lens crafters to clean my screens for my laptop, LCD monitor and digicam. sometimes a damp tissue paper works well too.
