Cleaning Products for a Monitor

Does anyone know of some kind of glass cleaner that would work well on a crt monitor screen?

I'm using an 20" Apple monitor (on my PC with an adapter) that my cousin gave me. She had it sitting in her garage for a few months after she replaced her Mac with a Dell.

The screen is kind of dirty (smudges, greasy looking...) and nothing I have tried will completely clean it. I've tried using micro fiber cloth with a lens cleaner (intended for cleaning eyeglasses), regular windex and even plain water. Nothing seems to completely clean it. It's still very usable though, it's just a little annoying to always have smudges.

Any suggestions? (new monitor is out, too broke......)

Too bad this isn't working for you. I use a spray cleaner intended for eyeglasses + the cloth for eyeglasses as well, and it's the only that that gets rid of the fingerprints (grease) as well as the little rainbows all over the screen. I have to press kind of hard in some spots though, harder than I would normally expect.

Also use lens cleaner + lens cleaning cloth. If you go with nice wide sweeps all in one direction you'll get a pretty clear surface
