Cleaning out dust inside computer

I was wondering what is the best way to get the dust off your motherboard, PCI cards, video card, and the rest of the inside of your case? I have heard of spraying a can of compressed air and vacuuming as a way to get rid of the dust. I know both of these methods will work to get dust off, but are there any risks or precautions you should take when doing these on your PC? Are both of these methods safe if you do them the right way? Could I just spray the compressed air directly on an expansion card or the motherboard safely? Could I vacuum any part as long as I don't touch the vacuum tube directly on any part of the motherboard and/or expansion card?

Help greatly appreciated

never used a vaccum before, it scares me. I like the compressed air. I blow it into the PSU fan and alot of dust dumps out. Then i blow it through any fans (case and CPU) and toss the dust. Then, between hard drives and optical drives. Then directly on the mobo and all hardware. Done it a few times and each time it's good to go.

Just remember to blow the dust out away from you. Also, do it outside.

i just finished vaccuming my whole case i dunno why it scares poele...i unplugged it....for the fans i held it rite over them and they spun adn the dust came off....i took my cooler off my Heatsink and vaccumed the dust outa there...and then just vaccumed some other spots wtih dust and im runnin fine

how come no1 ever thought about using a vacuum as a cooler? i mean think about it it could be like an exhaust fan and u can get 1 with an extreme small mmotor so hardly any sound.....it would probably cool rather well for xtreme ocers and would be cheaper than watercooling well wutever im retarted there must be a catch (the catch is prob. noise)

I usually open the side of my case and set up a box fan on the side being exhaust and it not only keeps my PC 10C cooler but it sucks out all the dust as well.
