Cleaning nvidia display drivers

I just installed my shiny new X1950XT and I remembered reading somewhere about using a driver cleaner to remove parts of nvidia drivers that aren't removed during a normal uninstall. I just want to know if this is something that I should do and, if so, what utility should I use to do it.

Well, you're supposed to remove the old drivers BEFORE you install your new videocard and it's drivers. :)

If you're not having any issues, then I wouldn't mess with it.

For future reference, use Driver Cleaner. Works like a charm. FWIW, whenever I use Driver Cleaner, it's b/c I'm moving from an ATI card to a NVidia card (or vice versa). I also reinstall DirectX as a precaution after using Driver Cleaner. Has always worked well for me.

Oh, I did uninstall the nvidia drivers before I installed the new card. I didn't install the new drivers yet, though. I am moving from a 7600GT to an X1950XT, so I guess I should use Driver Cleaner. Which version of Driver Cleaner do you recommend? I'm seeing 3.3 and Professional 1.5.

I always use whatever the latest free version of DC is. :)

DEFINITELY use driver cleaner, as you are changing brands. I experimented once and didn't use DC; the results were not pretty.

Alright cool. Thanks. It looks like DC Professional 1.5 is the newest free version. I don't see a link to any free version on the official DC site. I'll reinstall DirectX after I run DC, like you said.
