I never progressed to those drip models, I'm still loving my percolator pot. Easy to clean too .

Anybody else forget to run plain water through after cleaning? If you do, powered creamer doesn't dissolve. The wife did this and when I threw in the coffeemate it kinda just curdled. I was like wtf.

Update - that's one good mug of coffee! Nothing better than a coffee with a splash of half and half right before bed

Cleaning was easy and effective - I'm no coffee snob but I noticed the difference. Plenty of leftover for tomorrow morning. Hopefully it'll reheat decently.

if you want reheated coffee to taste remotely good, put the creamer in right after brewing and put it in a carafe or thermos. trying to reheat black coffee and then adding creamer just does not work. tastes like hot dog water.

reheating coffee isn't worth it unless there is absolutely no other choice.

Perc coffee is disgusting. It tastes burned. I can't believe that you would actually use one (troll?)

I have an old electric perc, and it makes great coffee. You can't leave it plugged in long, but as long as you unplug it within an hour, and preferably within a half hour, it exceeds all the autodrip makers I've used.

Better to use citric acid crystals. The best is actual sulfamaic acid (not sulfuric) crystals, which are the main ingredient in commercial cleaning solutions.

Sulfamic acid is a strong acid, but causes minimal corrosion. The scale and other debris are highly soluble in sulfamate form, and the sulfmates and sulfamic acid are not significantly toxic.

My brain isn't working - I need to clean the coffee maker - I know you can use vinegar, but I forget the specifics. Run a batch through with water with some vinegar added. Anything else I need to remember except to do a pot of cheap coffee after dumping out the vinegar, to get rid of any lingering vinegar taste.

i dont dilute.

i fill completely w/vinegar. after 1st run, re-use by pouring it back in for 2nd run.

then do a run w/just water

if you know your water is very soft (low hardness, ie very little minerals), you might want to do a cycle with baking soda also, after a cycle with plain water
1/4 cup of baking soda

No.

Not ever.

I clean mine about once every six months. 1:1 vinegar and water, halfway through the brew cycle stop it and let it sit for a couple of hours, restart and finish, followed by 3-4 fresh water.
