I have a wedding to go to tonight and I need to clean up a pair of my shoes to wear with my suit. They have a mild musty smell from being packed away for a while. What's the safest and most effective way to clean them so they don't end up stinking on me? I just want to make sure I don't ruin the leather with anything too harsh, but want to be sure I get the smell out.

And let me assure you, the smell is from the basement, not my feet :p

I would just wear them.

Sprinkle baking soda on them, let sit for a while, brush off and wear. Shrug.

Well it's bad enough that I can smell them while sitting down while they're on the floor. I just washed them with a damp rag and cleaned the rubber sole with simple green, it helped a bit. I just need something that can put a good cleaning on the leather without hurting it.
