Cleaning LCD with a simple damp paper towel?

I know they sell all those LCD cleaning kits and stuff, but yesterday I had some really ugly marks on my LCD that were really annoying me. Not having anything else to use, I just wet a paper towel, rung it out real good, and used it. It worked great! So is that fine for the monitor?

damp piece of old cotton t-shirt, then dry with another piece of said t-shirt
or a microfibre cloth, I got some nice ones from AutoZone for 5 bucks (I think it was a pack of 2)

Seriously, the Monster Cleaner kits with solution + microfiber cleaning cloth are worth it.

I've used about 5% of the bottle over two years now, which means the $30 Cdn. i spent on it is gonna last me over 10 years (assuming the stuff doesn't go bad).

Paper towels have a tendency to turn to mush and leave paper towel mush residue on your screen. Good chance you'll leave streaks. Plus it's not exactly the most gentile stuff to rub across a delicate LCD screen.

I've also used very soft paper towels to clean 2 LCDs at home.
Do it gently, don't abuse it!

:music: You don't always have to clean it hard,
In fact sometimes that's not right to do :music:
