Have had a HP CM1017 for sometime now. A year or so ago I noticed colors going weird after the latest toner change. Did some searching and found that there were a couple models that use this same laser box and after some time in use the internal mirrors get dusty which affects quality of the print output.
Over the christmas break, I finally went through the cleaning procedure I found. This one shows a CM1015 (1017 was almost the same, just a couple additional ribbbons).
Relatively easy, probably about 45 minutes for a first time disassembly and restoration. Did a calibration check after turning back on and all colors came out as clear as when first bought.
At some point I'll upgrade to a model with duplex scanning, but this should give me a couple years again at least till I need to worry about cleaning again.
