CLeaning golf clubs

boil a pail of water (just enough depth to cover the heads only), put in some liquid detergent, stir a little bit, and put your clubs in there. leave it for ~15 minutes. brush it briefly with a golf brush before taking it out. and dry it with a towel.

works for me.

Edit: the significance of my method is that the water is actually boiling when you put the clubs in.

It's a whole lot easier if you clean them right away. At my club house they usually have a few buckets of water out where you can drop your clubs in after a 9 or 18 round. Drop the clubs in, get a drink, talk some bs about your game, then get the clubs and use that brush with the two sides on the clubs. Make sure to dry them off. Same with the driving range, just clean em as you go.

I just use soap, water and a brush. Soak them a bit to loosen up the crap, scrub, and rinse.

Exactly what I use. Toothbrushes work great and are cheap.

You have be careful with dunking your clubs in hot water..

The new clubs now have special vibration absorbtions stuff on the head (I have Wilson Deep Red II Tour irons).. I don't dare dunk these in hot bucket of water, because it might dissolve the glue that holds it together. (Same with Taylormade Rac....)

good point.

I always use hot running water

spit works well to breaks down the grass/mud, then use a rough golf towel and polish it down. works for me. i try to clean it right after i hit though.

I used to use the standard hot water + brush method, but when you golf everyday that gets to be a huge pain in the ass. Now I just hose down a small section of the lawn and run the club heads through that a bunch of times. Fast, easy, and it works great.
