Cleaning for Men

My wife and I have a deal where if she cooks, I clean, and if I cook, she cleans. I end up cleaning a lot 😉 We started out with a cupboard full of cleaning supplies. Most of them smelled bad and didn't work especially great. For example, Windex stinks; it smells weird and it always streaks unless you rub it a lot with a paper towel. But then I found...

The Solution

Sorry, I couldn't find a better pic. It's the green Lysol All-Purpose Cleaner. It works on toilets, tubs, sinks, counters, and YES EVEN WINDOWS. All you need is paper towels to clean with it. Doesn't smell bad, gets the job done really well, and you can pick it up at your local grocery store. Highly recommended

They also make some mop juice which works pretty well, if you don't like that Pine-Sol smell. I'm a tad sensitive to harsh smells and I hate my place smelling like a freshly-cleaned hospital. I'd also recommend Febreze for spray on carpet and cloth furniture like couches and computer chairs. Anyway, just thought I'd share 🙂 Now go clean your room!

I use the ultra concentrated simple green. I bought a gallon jug of it from Costco 3 years ago and I haven't used a quarter of it. Just make various strengths from the concentrate.

How's the smell and streak? The Lysol stuff smells decent and you don't have to rub at it for 5 minutes to get your mirror clean. It's expensive stuff though, like $4 or $5 per spray bottle. It sure makes living in a nice, clean place a lot easier though 🙂

I just clean stuff with straight bleach. I figure anything that kills anthrax/aids/babies is good enough to clean my counter tops, bathrooms and floor.

Try this next time:

1 cup water
1 cup rubbing alcohol (any strength)
1 T. Distilled white vinegar.

(obviously) mix them together in a spray bottle and go to work. Haven't yet tested it's flammibility yet, but it does quite a good job as a cleaner.

Simple green is good, but I don't like using it on glass... Otherwise, it's one of my favorite cleaners!
I also use Mr. Clean all-purpose cleaner... The ORANGE kind. 🙂

All purpose cleaners never work very good. There's a reason there are different cleaners.

Thus this post...the Lysol stuff works wonderfully on everything I've tried it on!
