We've had 2011 regular macbook pros that I've swapped out the dvd drive for a 2nd hard drive. I think it used maybe a torx? It's been awhile. But I have a great mini screw driver set with like 40 bits. My late 2013 macbook retina I'd to clean out the fans, but none of the bits seem to fit. Did they change screw bit heads? I need pentalope 1.2 ?

Yes, Apple uses pentalobe screws for all their products now. I think they switched to pentalobe on their laptops with the first retina MacBook Pro in 2012, but it could have been a little earlier than that. When you say "late 2013 MacBook retina," I presume you mean retina MacBook Pro. The first retina MacBook came out in 2015, and it doesn't have fans. If you do indeed have a MacBook Pro, you are correct about the screwdriver you need. It's a 1.2mm pentalobe, also called a P5.
