Cleaning DVDs

when trying to watch my gladiator dvd on my computer (powerDVD3) It will play for awhile and then it will quit and tell me to check the disc, it might need cleaning. I have looked at the disc and there appears to be little dots on the disc, what is a safe way to clean it? I know that a clean, lint free cloth can be used on cd's, what about dvd's? what way do you rub it? do you go inside out? or around and around?

DO NOT GO ROUND AND ROUND!!!!
The cleaning procedure for DVDs is exactly like CDs. Go from the center out with a clean lint-free cloth. You can also use an alcohol based cleaner to moisten it and then wipe with the cloth. I have a cleaning set and the cleaner is alcohol based.
