Hello, I was wondering what the best way to clean my laptop's LCD is? I tried one brand of pre-packaged wipes but they just left streaks all over the screen.

I use a clean, damp sock. Works great and is cheap. Most of my socks are relatively lint-free since I have washed them so many times.

You can also dampen the end of the microfiber towel with a little H2O. Otherwise Sprayway glass cleaner works like a champ on the tough residue without harming the screen in any way.

Probably a stupid question:

Should the monitor be powered off before doing any cleaning?

A soft cloth dampened with a little water.
I usually turn off the monitor so I can see any straking.

To get cleaning solution for cheaper go to DOC and pick up eyeglass cleaner....same stuff but you get a whole lot more for your money. Pick up a microfiber cloth while your at it. I have used it for years and it has worked better than any "LCD cleaner" i have seen.

i use this silverstone LCD cleaner. in all it's glory, it's basically some distilled water, IPA, an anti-static agent and probablly some alcohol. it comes with a microfiber cloth.

This thread keeps getting reposted every week...

I use Monster Cleaner myself.
The microfibre cloth included is actually really good.
