Cleaning an LCD

I just bought a NEC Multisync LCD1765. Sometimes people in the family might touch the screen even when i tell them not to and smudge it a little, whats the safest way to clean it and get dust off as well?

I use a special LCD cleaning liquid and special fine cloth made by Peca that I got for my digital camera, does both my digital camera LCD back screen and my LCD monitor.

No smearing and does not damage my monitor 🙂.

Btw I would caution about using alcohol,it could remove the special coating on the LCD screen, damp cloth( clean fine lens cloth) with water(distilled water would be best) for cheap safe solution.

I use alcohol to clean my Laptop screen. It does really well for that. Put a little on a paper towel and wipe away while it's off. HTH

HTH?

I picked up an LCD cleaning kit from my local Apple store. I can't remember the maker but it comes with a spray bottle and the spray is thicker than water so it doesn't drip. I just spray it directly on the LCD. It comes with special towels as well. It works great and doesn't leave streaks.

I've read that a 50/50 mix of alcohol and water is ok but I'm not certain. I tried it once and it did leave streaks, not to my liking but I haven't noticed any lasting effects.
