Hi,

I have a Mita dp-560 printer. It has begun to print dark lines on the edges of all my pages. When I openend it up and looked at the toner cartridge/drum there was a dark line of toner on the drum corresponding to the line on the page. I tried wiping it off with some kleenex which didn't work. I then bought the audiosource "Kleenlaser" product which only made the lines darker:disgust: Can I try cleaning the drum with 409 etc? I don't want to ruin the printer.

Thanks

I fix these for a living. The cartridge is worn out or needs a rebuild. There is no way to "clean"
these. Most likely a seal or drum blade went south. The one thing you can try is to clean the corona wire
with a dry q-tip if you have access to it. 409 is instant death to the drum, do not try it.

Thanks copyfixer. I guess I'll have to start searching the hot deals for a new printer ;) Mita no longer makes the printer and I've never been able to find a replacement cartridge at any office supply store.

My suggestion would be to take the cartridge to a printer shop. A lot of the cartridges were generic Mita, Canon, HP etc.

They might be able to get you a rebuild or rebuild yours at a reasonable price. Then again, most inkjet printers are relatively inexepensive. It all depends what your needs are.
