How would you clean the mouse pad and keyboard? I'm thinking either rubbing alcohol or diluted dish soap? I'm sure there are special products out there but im looking for something more readily available?

rubbing alcohol, electronic cleaning wipes, compressed-air, or contact relay cleaner (CRC)

no dish-soap or water-based cleaners. you dont want to ruin anything.
