cleaning a laptop screen

Lint free cloth or soft paper towel with
water or glass cleaner that contains
NO ACHOLOL or AMONINA. (Do not spray on Screen).

Photographic cloth/wipes work well.

One drop of dish soap per 8 ounces of water in clean spray bottle. Stir mixture and mist a clean cloth lightly. You don't want to get cloth wet, just a mist on cloth. Wipe screen gently.

Also wipe the screen either in a up to down motion or side to side motion only. DO NOT swirl the towel around in circles as it may tend to scratch the screen doing it that way.

Rubbing alcohol / cleaners with ammonia won't damage the screen permanently (rubbing alcohol is pretty inert, and anything safe enough to spray around your house is unlikely to eat through plastic), but could remove any anti-glare coatings that are on it. I've never heard that rubbing in circles will scratch the display (wouldn't you scratch it just rubbing up and down, then?)
