Cleaning a fish tank use soap or just rinse out w/ water?

Just use hot water...... but if you have to use soap, make sure it's rinsed very very thoroughly.

I've used bleach before to kill of the algae... just make sure you rinse really well afterwards, and even use some of the dechlorinizer while cleaning.

Do NOT use soap. You probably won't get it all out. Use hot water, one of those green scrubbing (?) pads, and vinegar if needed. Let air dry. Then use quite a bit of declorinator after you fill it up, to get rid of any bleach left over. An free AOL CD broken in half can come in handy if you've got some really stubborn mineral deposits.

I just use really hot water (small 2 gallon tank) and wipe it with a paper towel.

Been doing that for a year and no problems with Mr. Fish.
