Was getting unstable at load & high socket temps running primegrid or certain projects at load like asteroids. When I got my rig in I only had some dynex thermal paste D:. I took everything apart after work tonight & blew out all my case fans & the Zalman HSF to get the dust out. Used some velcro straps to control cable management & used this kit to get rid of dynex paste and reapply the artic silver 5 http://www.amazon.com/ArctiClean-3-5...s=artic+silver

Been running primegrid for a while and socket temps are 53-55c. I was hitting 68-72C. The Core Temps are really low at 45-46c (was going to 60-62C). Was causing instability. This is even with 8 CPU tasks going and my GPU paused. Before I was mainly doing 7 CPU tasks and getting the high temps. So far it's making a worlds difference! I think if I change the airflow around on my top fan to make it an exhaust instead of intake it will lower temps more. The Zalman is moving air towards the top of the case and the fan up there has been blowing inward instead of outward. Back of the case has been blowing out also. Thinking making it suck air in at the CPU and the CPU fan blowing out at the top with the top fan being an exhaust blowing heat from the CPU out instead. Artic Silver 5 so far has made a worlds difference.

Realized I slipped up on something and now it's even lower. The Zalman CNPS9900ALED was blowing heat towards the front of the case and leaving heat to build up. Took it off and reseated it facing the back of the case to blow outward towards the exhaust fan. Top fan is blowing in and two front fans are blowing in. I feel cool air sucking in towards the zalman and heat coming out the back through the exhaust fan.

Socket Temps as of now running 99% CPU load 44-46C doing universe@home (primegrid not giving me work for CPU now. Temps will be higher with primegrid most likely)
Core Temps are 33-35C

Fantastic results :)

Good job!

Stayed cool all night around 43-45c. Ambient temps were 72-75F with heat on. Going to let it keep running. Might be what I needed in order to get stable temps with a mild overclock up to 4.2-4.4 GHz.

Been overclocking to see if I can get a stable overclock. I bumped my FX 8350 up to 4400 MHz from stock 4000. Checking my FPU & integer calculations. Closing in on a FX 9590 on universe@home. As of now it's been stable for an hour

Not sure how much credence those benchmarks are. I'll care more when runtimes come in and if I'm stable longterm with this settings.

CPU voltage 1.4090
NB Voltage 1.152
HT link Voltage 1.2355

Temps
CPU Socket Temp 46-47C
CPU Core Temps 37-38C

Ambient room temp 70F
