So if you look at my rig, you can see what I'm dealing with. I plan on doing a full format and reinstalling it all. I'm also upgrading from 1 gig to 3 gigs(2x1gb+2x512mb). I have an epox mobo that has two sets of color coded ram sets. So here are my questions:

1.Should I defrag b4 the format?
2.Ram, Do I do the matched pairs in the color'd sets, or alternate?
3.Should I dl all current drivers from the manu and put on disks b4 wipe or just update after?
4.The age old question of Nvidia firewall...to keep or not to keep?

When this is all said and done, I do intend on oc'ing my x2 a lil bit. I've seen various guides on self testing, but I'm truly just looking for minor oc'ing. Does anyone have any good benchmarks that I can just plug and play on stock cooling? or is it a must to go step by step? well that's all thanx for all your help. :)

ps-anyone looking for a ps2 or some 17 inch crt's in the houston area, let me know, I have some forsale.

1. No need for defrag if you are formatting
2. 1gig sticks in same color and the same for 512s
3. It's good to dl all drivers, sp2, virusware so you are protected to get some more online. sp2, virusscan, and adwares being most important.
4. Scrap the Nv wirewall

Hi, Make absolutely sure you can get all necessary drivers for the MB, Video, Sound, Modem etc before you format! Jim

How do I boot to DOS to do my format? haha, sorry it sounds so lame.
Do I need to do a format from dos or should I just use my xp disk and format when it asks?
If I do use the XP, should I do a complete format or a quick one? thanx for the help again. :)

Do it this way.

Do the complete. It'll give you time to grab some snacks and a cold Dr. Pepper.
