Clean up windows XP startup?

Is there a way to get rid of the LOOONG list of unchecked Items in msconfig? I only have like...8 checkes and about 30 unchecked. The list keeps growing as more and more things try to startup and disable them. Is there a way to clean up this list?

Start->run->msinfo32

It tells where the originating Key in the registry is

Load up regedit
look in "HKLM\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run" to start
try the same path but HKCU too
