Clean installing Windows 2000 Upgrade?

BD2003

Lifer
I've got an upgrade of Win2k, can I just clean install it? Will it just ask me for my previous Win98 disc or do I have to install 98 and then upgrade?

it will ask you for a previous version during install.

edit: sorry ambiguous. yes you can cleanly install from an upgrade cd, but (read above)

you will have to give the serial number for a previous version of windows. i'm almost positive it will ask you for the cd too.

Everytime I have used an upgrade product from MS (Office or an OS) it has asked me for the CD for the previous product. Usually my office is such a mess I can not find it. Occasionally I have been able to redirect the CD back to itself to look for the upgrade and it has worked SOMETIMES.

when I did a clean install if XP, I just poped my win2k cd in the drive and that was it - it didn't ask me for any old serial numbers, etc.

I installed a w2k upgrade last week and it asked for the other CD to verify I was "eligible" for the upgrade, but no license #.
