Clean install: XP Partition not showing up?

Touchdown

Member
I just did a clean install of Windows XP and during the installation I elected to create a partition of 10 GB of my 40 GB C: drive so I could install the OS on the small partition and use the rest for storage. Now that I have XP installed I only see the 10 GB partition listed as my C: drive. How do I get to my other 30 GBs?? Did I do something wrong or just miss a step. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Possibly during the install XP only formatted the 10GB partition... I would use a dos/win98 boot disk and look into it w-fdisk. If you can see the partition(30GB) but it does not show a filesystem (ntfs/hpfs/fat) its probably not formatted. Also did you use ntfs? 😕

There is no problem. You 'elected' to only format and partition 10GB's of your hard drive. You obviously have to go back and finish the job.

Right Click "My Computer > select 'Manage' > Now click on 'Disk Management. You can format and partition any unformatted or unpartitioned space from here on the fly.
