HI
This is a copy of a post I did on the hardware forum..

HI
I am trying to get info in loading win98se.
The pc currently has win98 on it with the win98se updates.
If I were to fdisk the hard drive, do I have to load win98 and then load the second edition updates afterwards???
I thought sometime ago I read that if you fdisk, you can go right to the 98se updates as a clean install.
The puter in question is my daughter and son in laws and is a Gateway. Originally, it had win98 on it. About 4 months ago, I added the second edition updates to it. The pc is constantly running errors such as page faults, etc. There has been so much software added and deleted, that I think it might be best to go to a clean install.

Any and all help and advice is needed!!
Thanks
Pghpooh

You can run fdisk (deleate the current partition and create a new partition and make it active), format, then install the WIN98SE. You do not need to load win98 first.
