can anyone show me really how to install a cpu and clean it.
Could I use acetone or water to clean the residue on the die?
and when artic silver is already applied, does it need to clean before reapply a new one?

Don't use water to clean the CPU core. Rubbing alcohol or dish soap are acceptable, however they leave a bit of a residue. Wipe it off afterwards with a soft cloth. Goof-off apparently works well too.

If you want to do the job really quick, spray some brake cleaner on a towel, then rub it on the core.

I use Rubbing Alcohol... look for some that's at least 70% isopropyl alcohol... it won't leave a residue if it's at least 70% Brake clean would work and wouldn't leave a residue, however, I'm a little hesitant to use such a harsh degreaser on something as sensative as a CPU.

Just a small amount of Goo Gone on a cloth napkin. Works great and leaves nothing behind that the eye can see.
