Great write up!
Just ordered:
Mothers California Gold California Gold Clay Bar System
Turtlewax Polishing Compound

I know at my parents house I still have some meguiars cleaner wax

Do I need a finishing wax? Or will I be fine with a couple layers of cleaner wax? How long do you wait between layers?

Thanks!

You cant layer a wax that has cleaners, they have petroleum distillates that strip wax off. Carnuba's with no cleaners can layer, should go 24 hours between them.

Here is a car I spent about 5 hours polishing and waxing for a client. Camera phone so quality isn't the best.

Claybars are awesome. If your paint does not feel as smooth as a baby's bottom, a claybar will help with that. Claybars are especially useful for light colored cars where you can see speckles of grime that has made its way into the paint over the years that you can't wash off.

Here's my miata after claybar, polishing, glazing, and waxing

And I don’t wanna talk to a scientist
Y’all motherfuckers lying, and getting me pissed.

WOW, man I spent some times on my car today and let me tell you, Sssnail is happy. I think there's some stuff underneath the old wax that I will need to get to one of these days, but overall result is freaking awesome. Laborious but well worthwhile.

Two Questions:

1) What's the weather like where you are? (I'm jealous of anyone in warm weather right now.)
b) Pics?

1) It's not warm (I'm currently living in SF), but I did it in a garage underneath the apartment so it's actually quite OK.
b) In a bit.
