Clawhammer vs. Newcastle

Right now, the socket 754 athlon 64s are on the Clawhammer core and have 1mb L2 cache (except for 3000). Apparently they will be on the Newcastle core from now on, all with 512 L2 cache, but the 3200 and 3400 clocked higher.

Is there any significant difference between 512 cache and 1mb cache?

Very little difference so far. 64 bit windows may change that, but time will tell.

And the 2800+ 😉 as for the extra cache it'll matter in some applications and not at all or nil in others although if a A64 3200+ deserves it's PR because of the extra cache then the 3000+ should be changed to 3100+.
