I'm looking at building a new comp with an Athlon 64 4000+. However, I noticed that newegg prices the clawhammer 75$ more than the San Diego. Is there any real performance difference?
San Diego= newer, 90nm process, overclocks to 2.8 commonly
Clawhammer= older, 130nm process, overclocks to 2.6 commonly
The only reason the clawhammers are so expensive is that the stores aren't willing to take a ht to sell them cheaper. Also, if they price higher, then the not so tech savvy people will by the older core thinking its better because its more expensive, thus moving old stock.
