Classified memo says situation in Iraq is bleak.

Now this news doesn't really suprise anyone does it? My comment is how do all of these classified memos start making their way into the US newspapers?

It's not "how" you should be asking. That's a Bush and Co. question.

What should be asked is "why".

It would be a good bet to say that reality doesn't come into question when policy is decided on and action is taken in the current administration.

Hence someone has to spill the beans so people realize how grave the situation is.

It sure as heck isn't going to come from a yes man.

A better question is why would a memo about the situation in Iraq be classified in the first place.

Because you are not in a position that has a need to know. Just because you are a citizen of the U.S. (if you are) that doesn't entitle you to know everything about our government.

They come through leaks from CIA agents who also happen to be RBH'rs and want to throw some dirt at the admin.

What it shows me though is that the admin is not about towing some party line and they do hear dissenting opinions, regardless of the suggestions to the contrary.

I'm sure they read them and then put them in the circular file.
