I can't for the life of me figure out what this piece goes to, it sounds VERY familiar to me and I think I even have it on a CD somewhere.

Click.

As a huge classical piano listener with every piano recording of Liszt, Chopin, Scriabin, Rachmaninoff, Beethove, etc... this piece doesn't sound baroque, classical, or romantic era. It sounds more modern almost pop even if there is a tad of romantic era taste to it. I honestly have never heard the piece or know where its from. I would say it was written or composed in the very late 20th or 21st century.

Well I was a mile off, eh? :^D

It sounded much more modern to me.

Had to use the "midomi" app on my phone. Tried it 2 times at 2 different samples of the recording. Gave me the same thing both time.

That's like saying "it's the really slow song from blahblahblah CD". The CD linked claims to be of the 2nd and 8th symphonies of Beethoven. The piece linked is for solo piano. ???

Anyway I'd believe it if it were Beethoven. Some of his piano works can sound like jazz. Great stuff.

Sorry, wish I recognized it.

I gave the CD the OP's clip came from according to midomi and the track's name on the CD. I know Adagio Molto is vague in the classical world, but that's the name of the track on that specific CD. The OP has the means to now get said track whether through iTunes or buying the CD or since the song seems familiar to him, maybe it will jog his memory of what CD he had it on. It's called a starting point. It's a bit more helpful than "Sorry, wish I recognized it."

It's like someone asking about a movie they saw that involved a killer with knives for fingers and a striped shirt, and someone posted "Nightmare on Elm St." with a link to the entire series. It could be Freddy vs. Jason, but again it's a starting point. Gets the OP going the right direction.

by searching for that on youtube, I eventually wound up landing on Moonlight Sonata in the 'Related Videos' field, which is still going as I type that. Gawd is that an awesome piece.
