Classic Shell now at version 4.3.1

Be forewarned that 4.3.1 does not work with the fall creators update 1709. I'm having to roll back to the 4.3.0 which is still working on my other machines.

Well nobody posted it so I did and I managed to get it working in 1709 by allowing it to install into its default directory. On machines that already had it installed in the default directory I had no issue with it.

Ah Classic Shell, I remember thee fondly, you allowed people to be able to use Windows 8 while it's Metro UX was completely unusable by most folks.

It's still useful on windows 10, especially to replace that horrid default start menu. At least it HAS a start menu though... so still an improvement over 8.

Nice to know they are still around in case I'm forced to use Windows 10 in the future for some reason(I use Linux).

Yeah unfortunately I don't think it fixes the rest of the shell, still have to deal with that horrid blocky white interface that looks like a 4 year old made in ms paint.

I use Linux too so I only ever have to deal with windows 10 when it's someone else's computer. I heard talks we might switch to it at work, I hope as hell we don't, we just finished switching to 7. I just don't want to go through another upgrade. All our stuff finally mostly works now. Windows 7 has classic mode too which is one of the first things I apply.

Windows is still the dominant workplace OS, particularly in an AD environment so what I would do is run windows in a VM at work for whatever b.s. (yammer, teams) the windows people want to use.

Don't think they'd go for that, they run a pretty tight ship, so the computer needs to be on the domain etc. Can't run Linux at work. I wish though. Also all our stuff is very specific as to what version of Java it runs on etc.
