This is silly. The purpose of the Windows 10 preview is to test/give feedback on the current state of the OS's development. Not to mention that Windows 10 already has a start menu.

LOL, true that, I only use it for Win 8 and have no intention of using any 3rd party start menu in Windows 10 as that's one of the major things of Windows 10, to bring the start menu back. It's silly they wasted any man power towards development of Windows 10 support.

Stardock has a beta version of Start8 for Win10,think they are all doing it.

I think most users will wait and see what the final Win10 looks like and what Start menu they prefer then ie Win10 or a third party option,so a case of waiting and see.

This... it'll depend on how useful Win10's start menu is (or how annoying)

Classic Shell has tons of options to customize your start menu including its behavior. It also has options for Explorer and a plugin for IE. It's a serious geek tool if you want to customize your OS the way you want it.

Yea, and the previews I've seen of Windows 10 start menu, I'll stick with classic shell. Just because Windows 10 has a start menu, doesn't mean it is an efficient start menu.

Classic Shell is also very much extremely useful for Windows Server which still doesn't have a start button of any kind. Virtually none of the 8.1 enhancements made it into Server 2012. So who knows what MS is going to do with Server 2016 (or whatever they decide to call it). I'm glad Classic Shell is continuing to be improved!

Why is it silly that they would want to support Windows 10 as soon as possible and garner feedback from users about bugs and compatibility?

But in a sense you're right, that if you're using Windows 10 you probably want to use the native interface so you can give feedback to Microsoft (although, TBH, they're unlikely to do anything even remotely related to what you suggest).

As for Windows 10 already having a Start menu, I use Classic Shell with Windows 7 because I can't stand the Start menu in that OS. If I ever install Windows 10, I'm sure I'll use it with that version, too.

Of course this isn't a question for me, but I imagine if you had a Windows 8 computer with this start menu, it might be nice to have the same experience on your Windows 7 machine.

Personally, I have let go of the hatred and use Windows 8.1 as-is.

Very true. On the other hand you have to try the programs to see if they work and if you like them :D
