Classic Dodge Chargers and Challengers

My dad had a 74 Baracuda he was making into a 'Cuda'... sharp looking car! I'd go with the Challenger out of the two. Classic Mopars all have a certain attitude about them that I like.

Just angry looking cars!

I have a weak spot for old Chargers.

The new ones I couldn't possibly care less about.

I would like to drive a new Challenger for an afternoon on the condition that I would have no responsibility/liability for it. I would drive it until the tires shredded then drive it on the rims until they were too squared to rotate. Then I would rev the engine until it melted. Then I would reach back into the cooler and grab an ice cold diet Mountain Dew and sit on the hood, sipping my pop, and call it a good day.

Edit: Then I would call my wife and ask her to come come get me.

I always thought they were pretty much the same car.

The Charger was a mid-sized car and its sales competition were cars like the Chevelle SS, Buick GS, Olds 442, Pontiac GTO, etc.

The Challenger was a pony car, a bit smaller than those above, and its sales competition were cars like the Mustang, Camaro, Firebird, Javelin/AMX, etc.

I had a 70 challenger, it was my first car. I'll always have a soft spot for them.
One of my classmates had a 72 convert big block, it was a show car.

Challenger by a large bit.

I find it interesting that this old Chrysler junk commands such a premium now.

It was junk when it was built, was considered junk by most hot rodders for years afterwards, and only in the last 10-15 years did it suddenly become desirable to so many.

Strange how that has happened.

Rarity and the Hemi engines make them collectible. There were a ton of GM muscles cars built so it takes the rare combinations to demand the money and the same with the Mustang.

Point was, the GM stuff was still more sought after for years than the Chryslers. The Hemi cars only recently (relatively speaking) saw their prices go through the roof.

And there were more GM's built because they were better and more desirable to begin with.

Charger > Challenger because of the 'Cuda

I was partial to the 'Cuda with the 6 gill looking grille and round rear taillights.
