Classic Book reccomendations?

I have been assigned an outside reading project in English, and to pick 3 characters from the book I choose and analyze each of the characters names. I must look up the characters name in a baby book or something, and then analyze how the meaning of the name relates and does not relate to the character.

Heart of Darkness by Conrad. The characters' names are all very symbolic -- Marlow (meaning "driftwood") is the main character; a restless sailor sent to the congo by a Belgian company. There, he meets Kurtz (the renaissance man/ivory baron/racist of the worst kind), whose name means "short" in German. Some explanation of that name is given in the text -- basically, it's a misnomer since he's larger than life but you come to realize that he's very small-minded. Anyway, just some examples. It's great novel for those sorts of analyses, lots of symbolism and so on.

EDIT: Grammar.

Lord of the Rings. The names all have strong meanings and symbolism Although i'm not sure if ti's "classic" enough for you.
