Classic Athlon Voltage

I have a classic athlon600 and a fic sd-11 mb. I have reasons to believe the mb can't supply enough current/watts to the cpu because when increasing the voltage above 1.65v @ 600mhz the cpu won't post. If I underclock the cpu to 500mhz then I can increase the voltage another 0.1v to 1.75v. My case is able to supply 300W so that's not the prb.
During previous oc:ing, on intel cpus, I've never experienced that increasing the voltage, in moderate amount, would result in the cpu not posting. What kind of voltage increase are one, in general, expected to be able to do on a classic athlon system?

Boman..
Are you using a GFD to overclock??? I don't think it is your mb that can't handle the extra voltage..it could be the other items in your comp..ie..vid card...sound card..HD's for example...that is if your upping the voltage thru your bios...I would definetly get a GFD to overclock a classic if you haven't already done so....
