I was listening to NJ 101.5 this morning and the talk show host mentioned this lawsuit. Now he was talking about how ridiculous it is and most of us would agree. I don't have all the particulars but here's the question of the day for the AT Crowd.

IF this lawsuit against the Fast Food restaruants look to be a winning lawsuit and IF it looks like there is a lot of money to be gained, Would you put your name in the hat?

would you try and take advantage of this situation??

i'm not gonna put up a poll cause i'd rather see your opinions stated. :)

Link to story.

Ya, fat people are suing McDee's cause they are fat, have diabetes, whatever. a whole host of ailments.

my question really isn't about the details tho, but about whether you'd take advantage of the money that could be received.

for eg. i'm over weight, i eat fast food. if given the opportunity, would i take the money that may be won here?

A fat guy is suing these fastfood chains b/c he says they lied about their nutrition info and that it made it hard for him to lose weight b/c they didn't offer healthier food choices.

basically he is saying it is your fault that you make good affordable food that happens to be fattening and i can't take my fat tail home to make a salad. I don't eat it unless some part of it is fried.

ooopps forgot to answer the question.

by joining the suit you more or less publicly admit that you are a dumbass that doesn't know jack about nutrition and didn't realize that those jumbo french fries were going to make you gain weight.

pfft if this case doesn't get thrown out and the guy wins i'm packing up and leaving the country after i finish all my school work.

can i sue wal-mart b/c their store is too big and i get tired walking around it looking for good deals?
maybe i can sue emirl (sp?) for showing me how to make good food and making me spend more money on groceries and getting fatter b/c i eat so much of his food.

What michael said.

but, if he were to win, it is a CLASS action law suit, would you as a fast food eater (well i am anyway) would you try to get a piece of the action??

I need money so I'd probably try something like that if I hadn't lost 25 pounds since i stopped eating at those places.

Why do you have to be mad at them for trying to make a quick buck? Let them try and let's see if the system is silly enough to let them win.

DIET and INACTIVITY cause OBESITY. As long as your calorie intake is lower than the calories you burn due to activity you will remain 'fit'. Once your calorie intake becomes greater than the calories you burn, you start storing the excess. You can be INACTIVE but as long as you have a DIET coinciding with your body's requirements you'll stay the same size. Consider coma patients on IVs.

Stay balanced, with a DIET matching your ACTIVITY level, and you'll remain a happy camper.

Well, that was your first mistake. Way to start your day off right. ;)

I doubt I'd qualify to be a member of the class b/c I'm hardly overweight and I rarely eat fast food so any fast food I eat is probably not to blame for any little overweightness I have.

But if I found myself eligible to receive part of the settlement or verdict, I would probably sign up. It's one of those things where even if I don't think it's ethical, if I don't jump on, someone else will, so I might as well serve myself for once.

I dunno I just hate 101.5, especially those armchair activists they have on in the morning.

Jim Gearhart in the morning is kind of weird. He's real conservative on most issues. Really hates govt interference on most things. he hates this lawsuit thing, but then he goes REAL liberal on other issues. he's weird that way.

i love the fact that he HATES what he calls LEFT LANE DICKS.

Hahaahahahahaha
Some of his rants do crack me up, I must admit, and as liberal as I am, I agree with his stance on gov't interference.

My poke at 101.5 was partly a joking one, I will also admit :)

once i found WFAN (i'm new to the area btw) i don't hardly listen to nj 1015 at all anymore. rather hear about sports even if it is NY sports than about NJ politics anyday.

nj politics is REALLLY depressing btw. OMFG, this state has sooo many problems.

Not really. as this post is more about whether or not people would take the money than about the accountability issue that all you self righteous posters want to talk about.

That guy should be put in a home. He's clearly stated that he is unable to control himself as an adult.

Not a chance.

All it would do is:

a) encourage more frivilous lawsuits pushed on by irresponsible morons
and
b) ultimately increase the prices of the foods that are sold at these places to pay for the regulations and court fees
