Class Abroad

I'm trying to find out what the requirements are for taking a class or two abroad, either as part of an exchange program or as just a single course. Has anyone done this before? I've heard that Spanish classes are offered in Barcelona. Something like that would be ideal, I just want to get out and experience more of the world before I wake up and I'm 30 with three rugrats.

I guess what I want to know is if anyone else has had experience with this, and how it went for them.

i spent two semesters abroad, a fall semester in Utrecht, Netherlands and last summer at Oxford, UK...

EDIT: Does your school have an international dept?

On a side note, Barcelona ROCKED.!! We went for a long weekend and had the best time there...

I'm in college, but I haven't transferred to a four-year yet. I would probably be transferring to a state university either after this semester or the next.

aphex: did you go with a program through your college or through an outside agency? did you have a wide breadth of choices as to where you wanted to go? right now i'm leaning towards barcelona. i've been to a few countries in europe, but never spain.

Scott,

You have to make sure that the Study Abroad credits transfer to your University. This is why people do it through their college. They get approval to take the courses that are offered abroad, and then go. Otherwise, you might as well just vacation over there for the semester if the credits don't transfer.

i spent a semester in leiden, netherlands and did it thru my school (UC system). Some poeple I met there did it through other schools not their own and just had the credit transferred. Check what you school offers, and you can also check out goabroad.com and search for programs, you can most likely get the credits to transfer easily.
