it reads more like they were found out that they had snuck across the border and tried to prevent the troops from returning to report it.

this is going to turn P&N real quick. But I think we need to give Iran 48 hours to get the Brit troops back or we go in and get them and use whatever force is necessary.

The British, however, are taking a more... cultured? approach.. Apparently, they sent a note to Iran to seek a peaceful end:

British Foreign Secretary Margaret Beckett said Saturday that Britain has written to Iran to seek a peaceful resolution to the standoff.

"We have made our response and now we are beginning to discuss. As you may know it's a holiday period in Iran and that is perhaps not too helpful," said Beckett, speaking to reporters at the European Union foreign ministers' meeting in Germany.

Iran must be shaking in their boots now...

Yes, a scathing letter is far worse than the threat of nuking them off the map.

The Brits are more than capable of going in and getting their troops if they so desire.

Armchair generals FTL

They'll probably get released in 5 years like the average Gitmo detainee. There is no better example to follow than the world's strongest democracy.

This is the perfect scenario for sheep to support a war against Iran.

Since it will be in Britain's name that we (USA) will be sending our troops in full force.

For what, 15 sailors that broke Iranian law?

I am not defending Iran, but I am not going to defend another fvcking war over this crap.

Iraq has only cost us $350 billion and 3,200 lives so far. That's a bargain!

I bet we could grab those sailors for under $500 billion easy. That's only $33 billion per sailor!

As if we haven't crossed into their borders, lol. It wouldn't be a surprise to anyone if we have special forces in their country right now - that's just the way we roll.

You might feel differently if you were one of the 15, I know I would. They are probably playing mind games with them and showing them evidence that they were in the wrong, when they very well may not have been. And what the hell does Iran mean by punishment? Beheadings? I doubt at all that there is any way in hell they will be found innocent.

Certainly we just expect the sailors to be treated on par with the standards we have set with Gitmo. No official charges, no trial, perhaps a bit of torture...

Sad thing is that is exactly what most of us think.... our ****** smells better than theirs.

I love it when companies/governments try to play dumb about important matters.

""For that level of detail, you're going to have to ask the [U.S.] military in Baghdad," says Army Lieut. Col. Mark Ballesteros. "We don't know anything about it.""

Right. A firefight erupts between US and Iranian forces and a top US general doesn't know anything about it?
