You can’t even make this shit up anymore. I’d say take it with a grain of salt since it’s early reporting…but Sheldon Whitehouse doesn’t mess around.

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has been accused of not disclosing a yacht trip to Russia and a private helicopter flight to a palace in President Vladimir Putin’s hometown, among a slew of other gifts and loans from businessman Harlan Crow.

Buried on page 14 of a letter that two Democratic senators sent to Attorney General Merrick Garland on Tuesday, in which they urged Garland to appoint a special counsel to probe Thomas, was an astonishing list of dozens of “likely undisclosed gifts and income” from Crow, Crow’s affiliated companies, and “other donors.”

In the letter, Sens. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) and Ron Wyden (D-OR) said Thomas, one of the court’s staunchly conservative justices, even may have committed tax fraud and violated other federal laws by “secretly” accepting the gifts and income potentially worth millions.

“The Senate is not a prosecutorial body, and the Supreme Court has no fact-finding function of its own, making the executive role all the more important if there is ever to be any complete determination of the facts,” reads the letter requesting the appointment of a special prosecutor.

“We do not make this request lightly,” said the letter.

The list of potentially secret gifts also includes a loan of more than $267,000 provided by Thomas’ close friend Anthony Welters, the yacht trip to Russia from the Baltics, and the helicopter ride to Yusupov Palace in St. Petersburg.

The best supreme court money can buy.

The republican party has a major corruption problem. Why don't their voters hold them accountable? Are they afraid? They are a bunch of cowards!

Nowadays voting is easy for those who love democracy. You just have to vote for the person who isn't corrupt. They are the ones with the D next to their name.

The republican base is still sticking their heads up their asses and pretending that all the collusion with Russia was debunked. You see it all the time, claiming it was made up by Democrats while there being mountains of evidence otherwise.

Remember when 7 Republicans spent July 4th in Moscow back in 2018? Pepperidge farms remembers.

Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Ala., told Russia's foreign minister that while Russia and the United States were competitors, "we don't necessarily need to be adversaries." Later on at the State Duma, the lower house of parliament, members attending a plenary session greeted the Americans with applause.

"I'm not here today to accuse Russia of this or that or so forth," Shelby told Duma speaker Vyacheslav Volodin. "I'm saying that we should all strive for a better relationship."

Well yeah, if Trump is going to benefit from Russian money you know ol Uncle Thomas is getting in line for some of that. He's still trying to make up for all the years he only had a justice's salary. What will Harlan say, are they no longer an iterm? Did he just get dumped for more opulence and better caviar?

Team Treason and the Robert's court ride again, and yet another national disgrace shames our institutions.

C'mon heart disease, where the hell are ya?

It will absolutely go nowhere but I think it’s a good idea still. Try to generate news headlines about the corruption.
I'd agree, but the final headlines are going to be that it didn't succeed and that's enough for most of our electorate.

Funny enough, Mitch is probably not in the pocket of Russia. I'd wager it would be some prick like Rand Paul or Tuberman that are in the Russian sphere of influence.

Where is Rand Paul's neighbor when you need him?

Project 2025 is all about getting more appointed people in government. It’s a bad idea for many reasons so who knows who is already in place.

Wasn’t it Mitch that tried to get the Russian aluminum plant in his home state

In general, Mitch was generally a hawk when it came to standing up to Russia. Getting a smelting plant in your state doesn't seem to be very pro-Russia anyway, since it would effectively be infrastructure in the US.
