CLANG! and other strange noises from the computer Vol. 2

Well, i'm pretty sure of it. But i'd like a second opinion. While formatting a second drive (a maxtor DX740 i think). it suddenly made this horrible clanging noise as though it where banging against its casing. We turned off the computer and back on, it can no longer be found on the Raid.... I think its dead. And nothing short of voodoo will bring it back. Safe guess?

I think your assumption is right. Everytime I heard the "clanging" sound, the HD was dead or died soon thereafter.

Now all you need is Maxtor's RMA number...
