I'm looking to get some nice shiney clamps, stainless steel or some other metal to use with my new rig's WC system. I saw some here towards the bottom but was wondering if anybody knew of a good place to get some. I tried the local walmart, though I could try an autobody place too I was hoping somebody would know a good place. Thanks

I've never built a WCed rig but have 30+ years of automotive real world experience.
So I'll state my case in a direct fashion. There is no intent to be rude. I hope HW comments
on this post.

The squeeze together clamps that can be found at http://www.performance-pcs.com/
should provide enough clamping force, plus they will not distort the hose. They are very reusable.

The stainless clamps found at hardware stores have sharp edges, bulky clamping screw
housings and are never round. Ppl tend to over tighten them and they will bind-up and
do the twist. ;) When I've been forced to use them, they are tightened first on a socket
to get a decent contour. Then put in service. Plus the threads are cut through the strap
and the hose will pooch out through these openings. Just bad all the way around for small
clamps. After 1"OD they seem to be OK. I dislike them with a passion for motorcycle work.

Answer= http://www.abaofamerica.com/ NOTE: The rolled edge that will not cut into the hose.

Pricing= http://www.ultimategarage.com/abaprice.html Scroll down for the Mini-Clamps.

I could drive to Baker in 7 minuets= http://www.bakerprecision.com/hoseclmp.htm
With ZZ Top calling your State home, there has to be a Hot-Rod store near by ;)

I can almost here it now...KRIPES!! They cost. Yes they are not cheap crap but consider.
They will not need to be installed over snug for a VG seal, the hoses will not be damaged in
anyway with proper use, they can be used many times, they look good and least of all,
bragging rights :D

if you use 7/16" ID x 5/8" OD Masterkleer tubing you won't need clamps. just put the tubing in boiled water and slip them over the 1/2" barbs. use black zip ties if you want to but they're not needed.

yes, ss worm drive clamps have been used for w/cing for years and some people swear by them..I don't like them personally. and now that I've switched to 7/16", clamps are a thing of the past...also, I use PushOn barbs too.

I'm using some Danger Den 1/2" ID UV tubing, figured I'd go without UV dye in my water and just let the tubes do the work. I personally cannot wait to put this rig together.

Thanks for the advice!

Preheating a 7/16" hose for use on a 1/2" barb is OK but for removal slitting the
tubing might be necessary ;)

yep..that's exactly right...but if you put a petcock drain in your loop then you won't have to cut any tubing

Heating PVC [plastic in general, actually.] makes it lose many of its valued characteristics... with Masterkleer, Tygon, Primoflex, all of that... if you heat it, it will:
1) Discolor.
2) Lose its bend-radius [bendabilitiness. I think we've been over this before :p]
3) Release particles into your loop.

Just a few thoughts.

I've only used Masterkleer and I've never had (1)discoloration happen to me. you put the end of the tubing about 2 inches in hot water so (2)flexibility is not compromised. And (3)'particles'...that's news to me. Been watercooling since '04 and have never had any of these problems...
