Time to flush the 500a this morning. Plugged in a monitor, yep. Zero blocks in buff-in. I picked it up to put it on the table so I could plug in kb/m and modem. Hmmm...mouse won't move. Then it made a clak noise followed by a dead screen. I raised an eyebrow. Looked a little closer at the screen, sho'nuff, no picture. Hmmm. Never heard a computer 'clak' before. Sounded like somebody slapped the case with the handle of a flyswatter. I peered in at the motherboard and rustled some wires, I always try this first, ya never know, it might work....
Powered on...all is well, until dmi screen. Then Clakking started in earnest! Source=Hard drive. I looked all through the Maxtor troubleshooting documentation, no mention of what to do if it clakks...
Well, I want my blocks! 48 hours worth.
Floppy boot won't allow dos access. Write error reading drive c: or something to that effect, all the while clakking away...

I guess I will have to put it in my mp3 computer as a secondary...it has a pretty nice beat...🙁
dam!
