Civilization IV on a Macbook: Better on Bootcamp w/ XP version or the Mac version?

Hello,

I played Civ4 back at home on a powerful XP desktop. Got my first Mac(book) and never thought about playing it due to the platform difference but more importantly, I know Civ4 is rather power hungry so I thought the MB had no chance.

Turns out, I installed Bootcamp, installed Civ4, put everything to max (1280x800, everything high), and it runs well.I'm sure it will bog down once the game really gets going, but I figure turning down detail settings will alleviate that.

Anyway, this got me thinking, as I know this will tax the Macbook. So, would I gain any performance advantage but running a Mac/Universal version of Civ4 rather than the XP version in Bootcamp?

Thanks much.

run the bootcamp xp version if you want the highest possible framerate. if you're fine with a bit lower framerate (just by a bit), then go for the mac/universal one.

my bro runs both WoW in universal and in bootcamp xp. since he gets above 30fps, he doesnt really care which one he's playing under, unless he is going to fight large battles which cause the fps to go way down in which he goes to bootcamp.

Every PC port I've ever played on OSX has been buggy. Unless it was completely re-written for it, I suggest using bootcamp.
